Dario Argento’s “Suspiria” Analysis

Suzy (Jessica Harper) travels to Germany to attend ballet school. When she arrives, late on a stormy night, no one lets her in, and she sees Pat (Eva Axén), another student, fleeing from the school. When Pat reaches her apartment, she is murdered. The next day, Suzy is admitted to her new school, but has a difficult time settling in. She hears noises, and often feels ill. As more people die, Suzy uncovers the terrifying secret history of the place.

Interview with a criminal

For some Primary research, I reached out to a criminal to get his perspective on morality. In previous conversations he had told me some dark times in his past, and the purpose of the interview was to learn some first hand experiences where someone has questioned their morality.

Article Study- Experimental Filmmaking

Over the last few months, I have watched all of David Lynch’s best works, I also recently fell in love with a film called “The Lighthouse” and “the Witch” by the same director. I wish to further explore more experimental films and incorporate some of their techniques into my FMP.

Tutorial Research #02- Colour Theory

For my next tutorial, I chose to research deeper into colour theory. For reasons similar to the last tutorial I chose, I want my film to have as much subtextual meaning as possible. The first time I ever noticed colour theory was when I watched “Breaking Bad” and have I would like to include something similar in my FMP.

Tutorial Research #01- Film Blocking

I wanted to research deeper into more complicated filmmaking techniques because I want my next film to be more ambitious in terms of using harder single-camera techniques. I also want to include as much subtext in my shot choices, to show that they have been thought through and not just used with no meaning.
